Stages of Discovery
Performing Arts Programs for Schools
The broad range of music, theater, dance, and multi-disciplinary performances in this series have been selected both for their high level of artistic quality and for their ability to engage, educate, and inspire student audiences. They teach about the arts as well as other curricular areas, such as math, science, literature, social studies, languages, and values.
Teachers receive a resource packet to aid in integrating the performance concepts into the classroom curriculum. Packets contain: descriptions of the performances; glossaries of related terms; directions for follow-up projects; a reading and website list for both students and teachers; and related discussion topics.
The Stages of Discovery performances contribute to the fulfillment of:
- New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards 1.1, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5 for the Performing Arts.
- National Standards for Arts Education ~ Dance #'s 2, 3, 4; Music #'s 3, 6, 7, 8, 9; Theatre #'s 6, 7.
- Standards in other curricular areas, as determined by the content of each performance, such as math, science, literature, social studies, languages, and life values, among others.

These interactive programs are presented in the beautiful 650-seat Walter K. Gordon Theater, which affords each audience member a clear view and intimate experience of the on-stage performance. The Gordon Theater is wheelchair accessible.
