Art Across the Curriculum classes: a) develop visual perception and memory skills, b) explore the language of visual symbols and cultural variations in visual communication, c) expand descriptive vocabulary, d) exercise critical and analytical thinking skills, e) introduce concepts of art heritage and history, media and methods, and f) foster an awareness of the students' own creative abilities.
Teachers receive resource packets to aid in integrating the exhibition concepts into the classroom curriculum. Packets contain some or all of the following: a description of the exhibition; glossary of terms; a poster of selected exhibition artworks/artifacts; suggestions for related follow-up activities and art projects; discussion topics; and suggested additional reading and web sources for further classroom study.
